Question
Hi Sean, There's a documentary that came out in 1963 about a group of 7-year olds in England called "7 up." Towards the end of the program, the kids are at a party, with a song playing in the background. What I can make out of the lyrics is "If I say that I love you, and you know it's true, if you say that you'd leave me, what would I do? (chorus) I'll get you back, if you let me, I'd change your mind, wait and see, I'll always follow you, tell me that you are true. Believe me, that's what I'd do, what I'd do, what I'd do." The song must have come out in 62 or 63, it has a Mersey-beat sound to it, and I feel that I've heard the singer before, but I can't place him. I can't find a song title that matches any of the lyrics (as far as I have them) in any of the top 30 British singles charts I can find. Does this song ring a bell with you? It may be a B side or an album cut, for all I know. Thanks for any help you can give.

Yours,
Peter

Answer
Hey Peter,
Yeah, you're right it is a tough one! I have searched my data base (25,000 song titles) and have drawn a blank. The nearest match to your lyrics that I came up with was a song by Terrance Trent Darby but I suspect that it is far to modern to be what you are looking for.
I will keep searching for you but to date that's it I'm afraid. I'll come back to you if I get lucky.
Cheers
Sean
