Question
My mother's friend is looking for a song by Johnny Mathis.  She thinks the name of the song is The Children's Song.  It came out in the 1950's and the only words from the song she remembered were "I heard a forest praying".  Hope you can help.

Answer
Hi again Carol,

So glad to be of assistance in finding "Forest" for you. One thing: if they want to buy the CD of Good Night, Dear Lord, Amazon doesn't show it as being available. They only list expensive, used copies and I don't want to see them overspend uncessarily.

The CD is available, new and sealed, for under $12 (plus shipping) from Collector's Choice. Here is a link to their site:

The song is also on "The Music of Johnny Mathis: A Personal Collection", a multi-disc career overview, which is available from Amazon, Collector's Choice and other e-tailers as well as used, in good condition, from Amazon Marketplace and eBay.

I know of one other collection that has the song in it but these two should get the job done, unless they just want the one song and choose to download the mp3 for 99 cents. However, many people, especially older ones, would rather have a full album and like the CD configuration, since they are more familiar with it.

OK...have a nice weekend.

Lou

Hi Carol,

"I Heard A Forest Praying" was on Johnny's "Good Night, Dear Lord" LP in 1958 on Columbia Records. If you would like to hear a :30 snippet or purchase an mp3 of the song, just paste this link to Amazon in your URL:

The song is also on his boxed set called "A Personal Collection".

Thanks for asking,

Lou
