Question Who sings the oldies song At the Hop
Answer Hi John,
"At The Hop" was originally recorded and released by Danny & The Juniors in 1957. The song reached #1 on the Billboard Pop Chart in January 1958, and also was a #1 on the R&B chart. The song was originally named "Do The Bop", but Dick Clark heard the song and suggested the name change. The song has been covered by Nick Todd (#21, 1958), Sha-Na-Na (at Woodstock in 1969), Flash Cadillac & The Continental Kids (for the movie American Graffiti in 1973), among others.
Danny & The Juniors, a Philadelphia based quartet, went on the place three more singles in the US Top 40: "Rock And Roll Is Here To Stay" (#19, 1958), "Dottie" (#39, 1958) and "Twistin USA" (#27, 1960).
Thanks,
Erick
