Question
There was a song that went - The girl I left behind, has been waiting patiently. And now that I am done , no more fussing and fighting for me. I am a soldier, a common old soldier, no purple heart do I wear on my chest.  I thought the title was I am a soldier but I can not find it. Can you help me?

Answer
Hi David,

The song is called "Coming Home Solider" and was done by Bobby Vinton.  It reached #11 in 1967.  The lyrics are below.

Thanks for asking!  : - )

Dave

I'm coming home, I'm coming
I'm coming home, I'm coming home

Home, I'm coming home,
Coming home from across the sea
Home, I'm coming home
No more marching and fighting for me

CHORUS:
I am a soldier, a coming home soldier
No purple heart do I wear on my chest
I'm just a soldier, a coming home soldier
I know that I, I've done my best

I'm coming home, I'm coming
I'm coming home, I'm coming home

The girl I left behind
Has been waiting patiently
She said she didn't mind
'Cause I was helping to keep our land free

CHORUS

I'm coming home, I'm coming
I'm coming home, I'm coming home
