Oldies/Old Song

Question
There was a song, maybe back in the 60's, kind of a folk song or ballad about someone who shares a pickel (or was it a sandwich).  The line I remember is something like "half is for me and half is for louie".

Do you know this song?

Thank you,  Curt

Answer
Hi Curt,

I picked this up off the question pool and thought I'd give it a try.  This is a bit of a long shot, but could the song you're looking for be "Gemini Childe" by The Mamas and Papas? It's of the era and similar to the style (but more psychedelic than folk), but not all the words match.  It's not about a sandwich or pickle, but then again, I'm not really sure what it's about. :)

Here is a link to a YouTube recording of the song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vn_1edsHeZI

And here are the lyrics: http://www.azlyrics.com/lyrics/mamasandthepapas/geminichilde.html

Thanks,
Erick
