Oldies/RON DANTE & GARY LEWIS

Question
Lou,
Can you shed some light on this............
Is it true, that studio singer Ron Dante is actually the lead voice on the Gary Lewis records, and Gary's voice was buried in the vocals with over dubbing? I also understand, Snuff Garrett of Liberty records did his job well, and didn't want "The Playboys" playing on the records, and used studio musicians.....is this true?
Thanks for your expertise Lou.
JOHN

Answer
Hi John
Yes, L. A. studio musicians were used on all the GL records.
Ron Dante did not sing on them but Ron Hicklin did. His voice was doubled on top of Gary's and the mix was adjusted, depending on how Gary sounded on a particular line/verse.
Thanks
Lou
