Question
Lou,
Being a musician, I have a pretty good ear,.....I believe, I'm hearing, a young Lou Rawls on backup, on Sam's 1962 hit,
"Havin' A Party." Mr. Rawls has a very distinctive voice, and I think, that's who I'm hearing behind Sam.......If so, do you know if Lou was featured on any other hit songs?
Can you shed any light on this? I imagine, there were many backup singers who eventually went on to huge solo careers.
Thanks Lou,
JOHN

Answer
Hi John
Lou is singing backup on both sides of that Sam Cooke single: Having A Party and Bring It On Home To Me.
They were close friends. Lou wasn't a back-up singer, per se.

Thanks

Expertise

I can answer questions about pop music from the 1950's, 1960's, 1970's and 1980's. I can help track down hard to find songs based on lyric fragments or other minimal information. I was an expert in this field but due to a family situation, was away from e-mail for a couple of weeks and forgot to put in a vacation listing with AllExperts.

Experience

I have been answering questions for this site for a few years. It would be nice to be reinstated. I have no idea how many questions I have answered but many people have written to me to say how I have touched their lives by helping them locate a song that is important to them or a loved one.

Education/Credentials
I am a college graduate.
