Question
Thanks so much for you time and effort.   My mother did have an album by the Lettermen....it was probably them.  Do you know a way to get a download or a copy of that?  Thanks!

-----Question-----
HI,
I am trying to figure out who sang a certain version of the song I Believe. I remember it being on one of my mother's albums when I was very young.  I think it was done acapella by a male group. It was not the version that The Bachelors sang with the musical accompaniment.  Thanks so much for your effort.  Sam

Hello, Samantha!

Thank you for your question. I have been trying to find a version matching your description, but I am not having much luck. This song has been performed by hundreds of artists!

These are some versions that were fairly popular around the 1960's besides The Bachelors:
*The Earls
*The Lettermen
*The Edwin Hawkins Singers

In addition, these artists recorded the song as an album track during the period:
*The Sons of The Pioneers

I would use those four as a starting point. This is the best that my research turns up. I am sorry that I cannot offer a more definitive answer. Best of luck as you search for the version you remember.

Answer
Hello again, Samantha!

The Lettermen version is available for download from the iTunes music store for $0.99, so that might be an option. If you'd like to listen to a sound clip first, one is available here: http://allmusic.com/cg/amg.dll?p=amg&sql=50:w0jm7i26g76r~T

This track isn't on the Lettermen CD I own, but it has been reissued on a CD called "All-Time Greatest Hits" which is available from amazon.com for under $10.

Thanks again for your question. Let me know if I can do anything else for you.

Expertise

The decades of music I know best are the 1960's and 1980's, but I have a fair knowledge of songs from other time periods of the rock era as well. I should be able to supply artists' names given a title, and I am also willing to attempt naming songs from lyrics. I enjoy popular music very much and therefore would be happy to put in a bit of time to research questions when I do not know the answers myself

Experience

While I do not have professional experience with music, I have been listening to music and collecting CDs for years. I also enjoy reading and collecting books about songs, as well as books about chart statistics.
