Question
Thank you for your speedy reply, but sorry I don't remember The Bachelors.  What other groups recorded it on a 45?

Question -
what artist or group recorded "I Believe for every drop of rain that falls..." in the 60's or 70's on a 45 (B side I think)

Answer -
Hello Rodell,

"I Believe" was first made famous by Frankie Laine in 1953.  In the 60s it was done by the Bachelors and reached #33 in 1964.  Below are the complete lyrics.

Thanks for asking!  :-)

Dave

I believe for every drop of rain that falls a flower grows
I believe that somewhere in the darkest night a candle glows
I believe for everyone who goes astray someone will come to show the way
I believe, I believe

I believe above the storm the smallest prayer will still be heard
I believe that someone in the great somewhere hears every word
Every time I hear a newborn baby cry or touch a leaf or see the sky
Then I know why I believe

Every time I hear a newborn baby cry or touch a leaf or see the sky
Then I know why I believe (why I believe)

Answer
Hi again Rodell,

The Bachelors had the only version to reach the Top 100.  It's possible the one you heard was by Frankie Laine, a singer who had great staying power for many years.

"I Believe" was also recorded by Brook Benton, John Arpin, Pat Boone, Glen Campbell, Perry Como, the Earls, Rodney Dangerfield (!), Roy Hamilton, Ferlin Husky, Tom Jones, The Lettermen, Lennon Sisters, Elvis Presley, Aaron Neville, the Platters, Righteous Brothers, Jo Stafford, Barbra Streisand, BJ Thomas, Dinah Washington, Andy Williams, Roger Whittaker, Tammy Wynette, and the (Young) Rascals, among others!
