The original version was sang by Mother Love. I still have my 45 vinyl record and I am not sure if they have it on CD.
This is a collector's item. Very rare.

Can't believe someone else is looking for this version. This version was also played in the radios when I was growing up in Manila and is the one I actually know better. This was also the version in an old song mag called MOPTOP from around 1973 which we were able to buy in the 80's in Recto. The name of the group is Mother Love and there is no google search result available for this version as far as I can tell except for your question. The reason I know is I heard the song once and the DJ mentioned the singers' name and I wrote it down in the song mag as I was curious as to who sang all those old songs. Also Mother Love was listed as a group with a song in the mag but it did not specify which one among the hundreds of songs. Too bad, can't find the mag anymore after all these years. I wonder if there are still any DJ's in Manila who can find this version.

There is another group that better fits your description of the style of singing: The Mother Love. Look for their album "Carousel of Daydreams. Side B of the Vinyl. Track 2.
