"The Fastest Group Alive" was actually songwriter Daniel Moore.

I am not a WestCost person, and listened to and bought this song on the East Coast, NYC to be exact. While I don't remember it being played on NYC stations (I listened to WKBW Buffalo because of the almost strictly Top 40 monopoly), it must have been played in NYC for me to buy it here.

Hi everyone

Here's the lyrics:

While walking all across or lying in the squares, be careful not to step on the bears.

There's bears in the stairs and sometimes the bears are very difficult to get along with.

Chorus - Bears everywhere, look out, look out, they don't care who they scare.

There's bears in the gutter so be careful not to utter a sound that might disturb.

There's something about yelling makes a bear get compelling to wanna take your leg and bite it.

Chorus

When you're swimming in your pool try not to lose your cool and get drowned by a water bear.

In the mountains, in the cities, even out a Pismo Beach, you're never out of reach from a bear.

Chorus

Hey, ssssshh, there's a bear! Wow!

As close as I can get with the lyrics:

The Bears

While walking all across the  junkies(?) and the squares, be careful not to step on the Bears

There's Bears on the stairs, and sometimes in pairs, and they're very difficult to get along with.

Bears, everywhere, beware (look out, look out) beware (look out look out) Bears, they don't care who they scare... You better beware! Roar

There's Bears in the gutter so be careful not to utter a sound, that might disturb... There's somethin' about yellin' that makes a Bear get compellin' to wanna take your leg and bite it.

Bears, everywhere, beware (look out, look out) beware (look out look out) Bears, they don't care who they scare... You better beware! Roar

When you're swimming in your pool, try not to lose your cool and get drownded...By a water Bear.

In the mountains, in the cities, even out at Pismo Beach, you're never out of reach, from a Bear

Bears, everywhere beware (look out, look out) beware (look out look out) Bears, they don't care who they scare... You better beware! Roar

Hey, Shhhhhh there's a Bear.... Roar Wow....

While walking across the lines and the squares

Be careful not to step on the bears

There's bears in the stairs and sometimes in pairs

...very difficult to get along with

Chorus:

Bears everywhere

Beware look out

Beware look out

Bears they don't care who they scare

You've got to beware

(bear growling)

2nd verse:

There's bears in gutter so be careful not to utter

A sound that might disturb

There's something 'bout yelling that makes a bear get compelling

To want to take your leg and bite it

(bear crunch sound... grizzly!)

Repeat Chorus:

Bears everywhere

Beware look out

Beware look out

Bears they don't care who they scare

You've got to beware

(bear growling)

3rd Verse:

While swimming in your pool try not loose your cool

And be drown-ded... by a Water-Bear!

In the mountains and the cities even out at Pismo Beach

You're never out of reach from a bear

Chorus:

Bears everywhere

Beware look out

Beware look out

Bears they don't care who they scare

You've got to beware

(growl)

Outro:

(growling... presumably on the prowl... lol)

Hey... shhhh...! There's a bear...

Wow!

See http://whereikeepmystuff.com/thebears.mp3. My dad's been looking for this song for years, and we found it this weekend, after much searching.

Bears. Everywhere. Look out, look out! Bears. They don't care who they scare!

You've got to beware.

Expertise

The decades of music I know best are the 1960's and 1980's, but I have a fair knowledge of songs from other time periods of the rock era as well. I should be able to supply artists' names given a title, and I am also willing to attempt naming songs from lyrics. I enjoy popular music very much and therefore would be happy to put in a bit of time to research questions when I do not know the answers myself

Experience

While I do not have professional experience with music, I have been listening to music and collecting CDs for years. I also enjoy reading and collecting books about songs, as well as books about chart statistics.
