Oldies - finding the band The Astronauts

Expert: Dave Silverstein - 5/14/2006

Question
Where/how can I get in touch with any still living members of the 60's band
The Astronauts (from Colorado, I think)?

Answer
Hello Robert,

The Astronauts were from Boulder, Colorado.  They didn't have much national success, charting only one single, "Baja," which only reached #94 in 1963.

However, there are several compliation CD's out featuring their music.  Hopefully, there may be contact information on those CD's.  Here's a link which shows their albums and the record labels.  You can also buy them thru that sight, which will take you to the Barnes & Noble site, or check amazon.com.  http://www.allmusic.com/cg/amg.dll?p=amg&sql=11:kk3gtq4ztu42

You could contact the labels as well: Bear Family, Collectables, and their national label in the 60s was RCA.

You might also contact the Boulder Chamber of Commerce in the hope that some of the group are still known in that area.

Good luck and thanks for asking!  : - )

Dave
