Questionthe song goes like this:I TALK TO MY BABY ON THE TELEFONE LONG DISTANCE.SLIP AWAY NEVER GONNA LET IT SLIP AWAY.
That is the only words i can recall from that song.
AnswerHi Keith,
That's by Andrew Gold. He wrote it and was on the charts with it in the summer of 1978. The song is called "Never Let Her Slip Away" and it's on his "All This And Heaven Too" CD. Believe it or not, that disc is still available! However, if you have a hankerin' to hear the song and don't need the original collection that it came from, there is a fine "Best Of" CD on Rhino called "Thank You For Being A Friend" with 20 of Andrew's biggest and most popular on it in fine stereo. It runs around $10-12 at most online retailers.
Here are the lyrics:
I talked to my baby on the telephone, long distance
I really only met her 'bout a week ago
But it doesn't seem to matter to my heart I know
That I love her
I'm hoping that I never recover
'Cause she's good for me
And it would really make me happy
To never let her slip away
I feel like a kid with a teenage crush on a school date (On a schoolday afternoon)
I feel like the lead in "Romeo & Juliet"
I'm a little bit dizzy, I'm a little bit scared
I guess I never felt this much aware
That I'd love her
I'm hoping that I'll never recover
'Cause she's good for me
And it would really make me happy
To never let her slip away
Thanks for asking,
Lou
