Question
All the Car Repair folks are maxed out, so I thought I would ask you this question:

I have a 2002 Olds Alero and today the windshield washers will not squirt any fluid.  It is about 20 degrees today so I am wondering if they are just froze.  I can hear the pump working when I push the button but no fluid.  They have worked before though in much colder temperatures so I guess I don't know my problem.  What is the best way to test if it is froze, and if so, what is the best way to thaw them out?

Thanks,
Joe

Answer
Joe ,

Did you check to see if there was any fluid in the tank ?

I can't remember whether or not the newer Olds' have a hose that runs to the wiper arm to dispense the fluid or the jets are on the hood . Open the hood and look for hoses running either towards the bottom of the hood or clipped on to the wipers themselves . Most of the time the tube will fall off.

I've never seen Winshield Wiper fluid freeze before. If that doesn't work there is a good chance the system could be malfunctioning . Pretty much where my expertise is limited .

Joe if you have any more questions please feel free to ask . Don't forget to rate my response to you .

Cheers,

Ed McKenna
