Subject: pulsating lights

Question
Hello,
I have a 1989 olds 88. All the lights including dashboard and interior lights pulsate. By pulsate I mean they get dim then bright , it goes on all the time. I just replaced the alternator but it still does it. Can you help? Thanks

Answer
Wayne ,

It could be any number of things.

1. Check the fuses to make sure none are jarred or loose
2. Your headlight switch itself may be at fault(an extremely common problem)
3. Bad ground

Take a trip down to a local garage, get some advice from an ASE certified mechanic. To me your problem doesn't sound that major and could be fixed for a small fee.

You don't want to be on the road in the middle of the night when every light on the car goes out :)

Wayne , hope this helps if you have any more questions please feel free to ask . Don't forget to rate my response to you.

Cheers,

Ed McKenna
