About Van Expertise I have been maintaining a fleet of approximately 55 light, medium and heavy vehicles for over 20 years. Most are 4X4 pickups and off road fire fighting trucks. Some medium duty trucks. Some military light trucks.
I can answer most questions concerning 4X4 engine, drive line, suspension, electrical, and fuel, both diesel and gasoline. Ford, GM, and Dodge, old and new, but prefferably not newer than 99.
Expert: Van Date: 9/5/2007 Subject: 94 Olds Silhouette control arm bushings
Question I have a 1994 Olds Silhouette that needs the control arm bushings replaced. My Haynes manual says I need to bring the whole control arm to the shop where they will do it for me, since it requires special tools. Is there a way for me to do it myself, or do I need to take it to the shop? Also, is there such a part as a rocker arm bushing? Thanks for the advice!
Answer Hi Rick,
Sometimes the upper bushings can be driven out with a muffler gun,(air impact chisel), while on the car.
But the special tool is a press. If you remove the "A"arm, you can probably drive them out with hand tools. Get a new bushing and look at it.
Rocker arm bushing?
I don't know, but the arm can be replaced.
