Experience I have been maintaining a fleet of approximately 55 light, medium and heavy vehicles for over 20 years. Most are 4X4 pickups and off road fire fighting trucks. When I had bought my 97 Olds LSS, the driver's door could be opened from the inside and outside. Recently, I discovered that the door could only be opened from the outside, and ONLY if I insert the key and hold it in the "unlock" position (even then, it sometimes requires a little jiggling). I have not been able to open the door from the inside at all. How would I safely remove the driver's door panel and what do I do next?
Also, the front passenger's side's mirror is broken off at the base. I am considering getting a power mirror part from a salvage shop nearby, or possibly online. If I can acquire this part, what do I need to do to ensure that the mirror is properly fixed?

Answer Hi Dan,
I immagine the hole in the little aluminum inside handle is broken. I have done some grinding and drilling on them to make them work.
As for the mirror, just dig in there, and you will find it is not any kind of rocket science.
Removing the pannels is quite simple.
A few hidden screws, and the regular plastic retainers you pry out of the holes.
