Some military light trucks. I can answer most questions concerning 4X4 engine, drive line, suspension, electrical, and fuel, both diesel and gasoline. Ford, GM, and Dodge, old and new, but prefferably not newer than 99.

Subject: Alero will not run after disconnecting battery for 12 hours

Question
Alero 3.4 v6 cranks over, but will not run after disconnecting battery for 12 hours. Any ideas why ?

Answer
Hello Randy,
My phone line is giving problems, so if you get this answer twice, that is why.

First of all, just from reading your question, I would assume the car has been running fine, no repairs performed recently, and the battery for some reason, was disconnected, and now the car won't start.  Correct?

Makes me curious why the battery was disconnected.

At any rate...about the first thing to check, is make sure there is spark. Then make sure the fuel pump is running in the tank.

If there is spark, and you can hear the pump running, I would be wanting to know what the fuel pressure is, and also, if there is power, and speciffically, pulsed power at the injectors.

Now, about here, the troubleshooting chart would be branching out in several directions, so make sure these requirements are met, and then we can proceed.

There is gas in the tank, isn't there?
