Oncology (General Cancer) - Chemical in coffee causing cancer

Expert: Eloren - 1/10/2008

Question
I read that there is a cancer-causing chemical in coffee
called Arylamine.  Is it safe for me to drink 1 or 2 cups of decaf brewed coffee a day?

Answer
Hundreds of studies have been done trying to find something really unhealthy about drinking coffee, to no avail. Drinking coffee is probably good for you, in fact, and that includes regular caffeine containing coffee. So enjoy your coffee, and stop reading alarmist BS which unfortunately is rampant in our popular media. Virtually every food and drink we imbibe contains some chemical or other which causes cancer in cancer prone lab rats when fed to the poor little guys at doses up to a million times more than any human could ever be exposed to.
