Question QUESTION: MY BROTHER INLAW HAD HIS KIDNEY REMOVED TWO YEARS AGO DUE TO CANCER,IT MATASTASIZED TO HIS LOWER SPINE, THE TUMOR HAD ITS OWN BLOOD SUPPLY THEY STOPED THE FLOW AND REMOVED THE TUMOR AND PUT A CAGE AROUND HIS SPINE AND PUT IN A ANGIO SEAL. HE NOW IS INCONTINENT OF BOTH AND HAS NO FEELING AND VERY MINAMAL MOVEMENT TO HIS LEGS. AS THE DOCTORS ARE RELUCTANT TO TALK TO US PLEASE COULD YOU TELL US WHAT IS HAPPENING AND WHAT TO EXPECT REGARDS MICHELE
ANSWER: It is probable that his cancer has damaged his spinal cord down there which would explain his incontinence and other neurological symptoms. In case his condition has grown worse gradually over some time lately it is probable that there is more tumor growth there. Kidney cancer is usually not very sensitive to radiation therapy and chemo therapy so treatment options are most probably very limited. Long time prognosis is probably bad.

QUESTION: i have read a little about agio seals, is it possible that this is the reason he canot walk? my sister is very distressed and is rapidly loosing weight ,why wont anyone tell them what is happening .with this sort of condition how long does a person usually have to live, all they say is he could be in hospital for six weeks to six months but dont elaborate, surely there must be somone who will discuss this with her is there a book or web site that will explain and make it a little clearer thankyou michele
Answer With the information you have provided it is not possible to say much more than I have. The only people who have more information are his drs.! They do have an obligation to inform your sister, his wife, as much as they can unless the patient has forbidden it. She should demand more information, INSIST on it! The seal MAY be involved too BUT that is uncertain! To be able to elaborate I would need much more information!
