Question
My mom was just diagnosed with stage 2 cervical cancer, but she is passing large blood clots that are dark and in severe pain.  could it be further than stage 2 and the doctors just don't realize it yet?

Answer
Dear Nadine,

Sorry for the delay. I have been traveling.

I am sorry about our mother. Did they say stage II a, b, or c?

Here is info on the staging.

http://www.cancer.gov/cancertopics/pdq/treatment/ovarianepithelial/HealthProfess...

It is possible they can revise this later. The staging is based on an absence of tumors outside the pelvis, so it is possible that something is missed. But passing clots is not necessarily a sign of advanced cancer. But she should bring these symptoms to her doctors attention.

I hope this helps,

Michael
