Oncology (General Cancer) - Squamous cell lung cancer

Expert: Claes-Gustaf Nordquist, M.D. - 11/3/2009

Question
I am wondering if the following first line chemotherapy schedule should be considered for a patient diagnosed with stage 3b squamous NSCLC:

Taxotere 30mg/m2 days 1,8,15
Gemzar 750mg/m2 days 1,8,15

Answer
It could at least be considered. I normally do not comment on details of chemotherapy here for the simple reason that I'm retired and the progress of chemotherapy is so swift that it is hopeless to try to keep up with its details unless you are yourself busy with it all the time. And that I'm not due to my retirement after a stroke. So for a more up to date opinion you should discuss this with someone still active with this kind of treatment.
