Oncology (General Cancer) - Lump

Expert: Claes-Gustaf Nordquist, M.D. - 6/7/2009

Question
I have a very large lump on the left side of my neck that seems to swell out more as I eat and afterwards--sublingual as well. I'm really getting nervous about this now because I am very fatigued. Since I don't have health insurance, my doctor said he would do a blood test first and then go from there if need be. Does anyone know where I could go to receive free cancer treatments if indeed it is cancer-God forbid. I live in Northeastern Pennsylvania close to Binghamton, New York. Thanks, Deb

Answer
Sorry, I'm a Swede living in Stockholm Sweden so I do not know where you can get such treatment. However to get a diagnosis here I think an ultrasound scan of your lump and a fine/thin needle aspiration biopsy of it is more important than blood tests and probably would not be very expensive.
