Question
QUESTION: Hello,

I went to the doctor recently because I fell and was walking off balance, when I went, they admitted me to the hospital and took an mri and a ct, now they are telling me I have lesions in my head and also in my lungs. I know why I fell, and I was ok before that. they won't explain it to me or tell me why it cant be a lump from falling. They now want me to get a biopsy. I'm not saying I refuse to believe that they did find something, but I want to know why I was walking like that, it can't be what they found, I was fine before that

ANSWER: Carol, this is serious! Regardless of why you fell we can not get around what they did find on your CT scans (probably of your lungs?) and on your MRI scans (probably of your brain?)! They have there seen lung lesions that may be due to either a lung cancer or a cancer somewhere else that has spread to your lungs and also lesions in your brain that may indicate that the cancer has spread to there too (lung cancers rather often spread to the brain and if a cancer somewhere else has spread to the lungs it may also have spread to the brain). A biopsy is IMPORTANT in order to confirm if indeed it is a cancer or not and if so to try to find out what kind of cancer it is and from where it comes if it did not start in your lungs! I do not know either why you walked like that but it unfortunately is not impossible that it was due to those brain lesions you have mentioned. You probably mentioned your way of walking in the hospital and THAT made them do the MRI scan of your brain. Correct? Then, when they did see those lesions there they had the CT scan of your lungs done to see if it was from there it came. Correct? Please, just follow the advice of your drs.! Please, do keep me posted!

QUESTION: Thank you for responding so quickly. Well they kept me in the hopital because of the way I was walking, I am walking better now after the medication they gave me. I am scheduled to see a specialist on Monday to discuss what I have, hopefully he will explain the results to me instead of being so vague.  Thank you again.

Answer
Good! Well since all facts are not known yet there may have been reason for the vagueness. Furthermore, not all are as (brutally?) frank and blunt as I tend to be here to get the message through. Probably a result of the 15 years I spent as a military dr. Thanks!
