Question my sister in law just found out Saturday, June 20, 2009 that she has breast cancer and stage 4 spinal cancer. What are the treatments if any and and how much time do you think she has. She is only 53 years old. But there is a long history of cancer in her family. Her mother died of breast cancer in her early 30's, and her father died of a brain tumor in his early 60's.
Answer I suppose that what she has is a stage 4 breast cancer that has spread to her spine since that is the most probable interpretation of what you have written. Correct? With a mother who died of breast cancer in her early 30'ies I'm very surprised that she has not herself had regular breast check ups in order to avoid a situation like this or has she? If so how did she arrive at this?! In this situation she needs a mastectomy combined with radiation therapy and chemotherapy and perhaps hormonal therapy. Her spinal lesion needs radiation therapy too. A stage 4 cancer is in principle at present incurable. But it may be controllable using regular chemotherapy and maybe hormonal therapy. However no guarantees are possible.
