I am currently worried about the increase in lumps on my neck. I had a swollen lymph node at 17 and went for STD checks, an ENT to get it checked and all was clean and the doctor dismissed this by saying it was just enlarged. over the past few months I have had a cycst on my neck, which i got checked and that's what they said it was. Now i have a second and small lumps near my temple and under the current englarged lymph node. In addition I woke up this morning with the left side of my neck englarged where the thyriod resides. In addition I also have a lump in my mouth. The doctors seem to be saying these are all based on fluid build up. I however, am very much not convinced.
Please is there any possible explaination you can maybe think of, if so i'd be eternally greatful
Regards,
D Gallacher
Answer If the procedure is available where you are in the UK all your lumps can be checked with fine/thin needle aspiration biopsies in order to find out if they are anything serious. I'm not sure to what extent this technique is available in the UK. 30-40 years ago the Lancet called it "a Scandinavian curiosity" but today almost 10000 such biopsies are done every year at the MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas USA! If it is good enough there it is probably good enough everywhere! Ultrasound scans could also be used to check them. Please do keep me posted!
