Oncology (General Cancer) - please help

Expert: Claes-Gustaf Nordquist, M.D. - 7/1/2009

Question
my father had an abdominal ultrasound scan which showed multiple hepatic metastases and intraabdominal lymphadenopathy.  He also has a tumor on his pancreas, he has been told the possible dianosis of metastatic liver disease.

we have awaiting results but this week he has been very poorly not eating much (snacking a little) sleeping alot awake just a few hours a day, doesnt feel hungery, he tells me his stools are loose and pale, he has lost weight.

can someone please tell me what this all means and prognosis - i am currently living 5000 miles away and need to know whether i need to get home urgently or whether i have time to wait until he gets the full results in over a week.

thank you so much for your help

Answer
He probably has a pncreas cancer that has spread to his liver etc. It seems his cancer infiltration of his liver is rather big if his stools are pale. Is he jaundiced too? His survival time from now will probably be short (probably weeks if jaundiced) and there is no treatment available that can offer a cure in this situation. I'm sorry I have nothing better to tell you!
