Oncology (General Cancer)/enlarged lymph nodes

Question
I first noticed a small lump on the right side of the neck which is less than 1cm but still odd. This was 3 weeks ago. Then shortly afterwards more nodes started to get swollen under the armpits. These became quite painful. I even had slight pain in my inguinal nodes but not much enlargement.

There is no obvious infection I can see in my body. The nodes are not going down in size but staying the same. The pain is diminishing but still not gone away.

could it be cancer?

how long would it take for the nodes to go back to normal? can it take several weeks or even 1~3 months?
