Question
What is a "benign tumor"?
Benign means not harmful yet people die from this type of tumor do they not? Is not a tumor soemthing abnormal?

Answer
A benign tumour is the opposite of a malignant tumour = cancer. So a benign tumour is NOT a cancer. A benign tumour MAY be dangerous and/or difficult to treat due to some special anatomical location or something else. In most cases though it is NOT! Once such a tumour is removed the patient is cured. With a cancer that may very well not be the case as it may spread. A benign tumour does not!
