Question I got my first ever abnormal pap at my six month pp checkup, After having a breeze with my pregnancy. My ob did a colposcopy and 5 biopsies. 1 of the 5 showed pre-cancerous lesion. He felt strongly about a cone-biopsy and referred me to a Obgyn-Oncologist to get it done, he said he doesn't do them anymore, he is more on delivering babies. My questions are this. The oncologist did a colposcopy and 1 biopsy when I went in for my first check up. explained to me that after the cone biopsy i will be seeing him regularly to make sure I am in the clear and then can go back to my regular obgyn.. In a honest opinion of the matter, would they be saying pre-cancerous if they had any hunch that it could be cancer and wanted to be sure before they told me? I know this may seem like an odd question. But I am really worried that it might be more and they are checking and checking, mind you the biopsies came back with pre-cancerous.. Would the cervical biopsies that were done have indicated cancer and not pre-cancerous?
Answer If both pap smears and biopsies say pre-cancerous it IS pre-cancerous not cancer! However if you have had a pre-cancerous cervix condition then that may come back and later develop into cancer. That is why they want to continue to keep an eye on you! All for your own good! They are going by the book! Good luck!
