Oncology (General Cancer)/skin cancer or just a blood blister

Question
I just discovered a small (~1.5mm) black bump on my abdomen yesterday.  It is slightly raised and the skin surrounding it is red (~2mm on one side and ~1 on the other.  I can't remember if there was a small mole there before or not. At first I thought it was a blood blister, although I don't know what would have caused it.  Then I did some searching and read about nodular melanoma, which is often mistaken for a blood blister, and is a bad thing to get.  I'm pretty scared right now.

I'm a 36 year old caucasion male.  I have dark hair and brown eyes, and am not particularly light skinned.  I avoid the sun as much as possible now but I have had a few bad sunburns when I was young and foolish, although I don't remember any of them being on my abdomen

I am pretty scared about this.  I know nodular melanoma is bad, even when its small.  I have taken some pictures of the spot and can provide them if necessary.  I appreciate any information you can provide for me.

Answer
Unfortunately it is not a good idea to diagnose anything like this by description and photos alone. I do strongly suggest that you let a dermatologist (skin dr.) check it ASAP to be on the safe side! But it may turn out to be nothing of importance, but why take any risk?!
