Online Catalogue/Retailing - Markup

Expert: John - 5/6/2008

Question
Hello John,

I have a product that I will be selling to the public and also wholesale to different retail chains.  The cost on the product is $2.00.  I was going to sell it retail $6.99 and wholesale $4.00.  What do you think about these numbers?

Answer
Wholesale product cost should range from 1/3 to 1/2 of the retail cost.

So your numbers should be fine.

You are just over 40% mark-up over wholesale.  That is good.

E-mail me info, I may be interested in carrying it my store.
