Subject: Inventory projections for a startup

Question
I am in the process of developing a business plan for an online business.  I have done a lot of research trying to find models or approaches that people have used to project their initial inventory investment.  I realize it "all depends" but useful data might include the average amount of traffic a housewares' site might realize just after launch and any other "average" data that exists on order sizes from housewares sites and conversion ratios for that space as well. I'd be conservative and use the lower end of the average order size and average conversion ratio info.

Any insights?  Many, many thanks in advance.

Juli

Answer
Hello,
If I understand the question correct, you are trying to figure out how much stock you should have on hand when you start so you can finish writing your plan.

That is hard to answer.  It really depends on a lot of things here.

I take it you are going to open a store.

Have you thought about using Distributors that drop ship?

How fast do these sell for you?

What is the life of the product until it is replace with something better?

How long does it take to get re-supply?

How much business are you planning?

You can also try this:

Just copy and paste.

What you selling?

Good luck,
John

P.S.- I also sale to business at wholesale and am still looking for more products to sale.
