I currently use a free web host because I have a very simple kind of web site. However, I now want to be able to sell things from my web site and accept credit cards, so the web host is telling me that I have to upgrade to their expensive plans in order to put a shopping cart, SSL certificate, etc. on my site. Do you know of any free or inexpensive web hosts that can accomodate ecommerce?
Honest, the best thing you can do is a google search for 'ecommerce'.
That should give you a lot of hits and you can check them out and see which is better for you.
I no longer use free sites for business.
Also, have you looked into PayPal shopping cart? Not sure anymore on it, but you may be able to use the site you already have as long as the site you have has html support or a web gem.
