AboutVena McGrath Expertise As the author of a novel about my life online in chat rooms specifically, and a few adventures into online dating, I can answer almost any question anyone could ask about chatting online. The excitement, the adrenalin rush, the manipulation of the mind, the corruption of morals, the danger of stalking and harrassment online and offline, the lies, the secrets. The reality of this `fantasy` is frightening. My book tells a story that hopefully will make anyone who reads it more wary and chatwise than I was when I stumbled upon chat in late 1999 as a naive woman who didn`t have a clue what a chat room on the internet was. I have spent many hours online counselling men and women with broken hearts, wounded pride, and yes, very real fear. My passion is to try to help eradicate the not so good factors out of chat rooms and make them once again fun places where people feel safe.

Question I saved several yahoo message chats, from my various contacts in Desktop computer. Later I sold it to my friend and he formatted the disk. and I purchased a LAPTOP.
My question is that how can I NOW see the previous chats of my yahoo contacts, when I was using my desktp computer?

You should never sell or give a computer to anyone until you have totally wiped out all your documents, chats etc from the computer. You can buy programs to do this to ensure that the person who has the computer cannot access your passwords, your banking details, your chat records and anything else you have had on that computer. I sure hope that your friend is totally honest and trustworthy.
Just by deleting stuff does not mean it has gone from your computer. There are also programs you can buy that can find buried files. According to what I know about computers, every time you delete something it stays on your computer until it is overwritten by something else that is deleted and so it goes on.
I don't know the answer really so you will have to ask an expert in computers. I am not that, I just have some knowledge that doesn't go very far into the depths of computers. If you don't have a copy of what was on your desktop computer then I cannot see how you can see what you saved unless when you log into yahoo all your previous chats are in there regardless of what computer you use.
