Online Marketing/My videos not uploading fast enough

QUESTION: Hi Nat. Do you know how I can encode my videos into a streamable file format so my videos will upload faster on youtube? This is what youtube tells me on the screen as my 1 to 3 minute video takes at least an hour to upload. They give me a link for a tutorial on how to change this but it doesn't relate to my situation since the software they're mentioning wasn't involved in the creation of my motion pictures. I'm using a Sony handycam to record the footage and then converting the file extension to a MP4 using Format Factory so I can see the playback as I'm editing it in Windows movie maker.

ANSWER: Sterling,

Oh yes the world of video and uploading.

I too have been stung by slow uploads in the past.

And yes I have fiddled with format factory to do conversions without much luck.

Let me put together some ideas for you and will try to get it online tonight.

QUESTION: Sure Nat, that's fine.

Sorry about not getting back to you sooner. July 4th weekend then a clogged up week of work.

I've had good success with Camtasia which is put out by Techsmith.

They have a free trial and here is the link.

I monkeyed around with movie maker before but found the conversion process and eventually upload with camtasia to smoother and significantly faster.

I also use animoto pro but they have a free version that may work for you, as well

More for photos and video clips but you should add it to your online marketing arsenal.

They also have extremely fast conversions and uploads.

Since I sometimes work off a wireless connection I've found that the uploads can be a bit slower than my direct LAN connection. However for a 2 or 3 minute video it shouldn't take any longer than 5 minutes to upload to a video sharing site.

Seems to me youtube is struggling with an incomplete format and puts you in some kind of limbo not telling you really why the video is not uploading.

Camtasia is so easy to use you may end up just buying it to save yourself the headaches of doing all those file conversions.

Just a thought

Hope this helped
