Experience I have experience with online relationships and having friends who are in one or have had them, I know the highs and lows that can come from being in one, especially long distance. I have been online for five years and met many people from different cultures.
I met this amazing guy online, through a dating website. And we have been talking on skype and on the phone for a couple of months now. i'm american and he's portuguese. And i was planning a trip to europe soon, and now portugal is on my itinerary. my question is, this first meeting how should it be like, since i'll be in a foreign country and not really much time to take it slow, and if he extended an invitation to stay at his house instead of a hotel? and last but not least how do you suggest we carry on from that point on, if we really did feel as good together as we do now, due to the distance and such?

i would be inclined to stay at a hotel and not his place. firstly, you never really know a person until you meet in real and if things dont work out then you have your hotel to go back too. even if he asks you over and things develop that is up to you to decide how comfortable you feel. i just think staying in a hotel is the wise thing to do.
im sure if you feel as good together in real as you say you do online then other things between you will happen naturally and you wont have to think much about it. just make sure if you are not comfortable that you can get out of the situation your in, particulary in a forgein country.
