Aboutvanessaoz Expertise I love helping people and and some may say that I am a very chatting and friendly person. I can offer advice to people who are in long distance or a different cultural online relationship as I have experienced both. I know how hard it can be and how heartbreaking it can be but I also know how rewarding they can be.
i live in australia so depending where you live my time frame for answering may differ but i will try to answer within 24 hours of receiving your question.
Experience I have experience with online relationships and having friends who are in one or have had them, I know the highs and lows that can come from being in one, especially long distance. I have been online for five years and met many people from different cultures.
Question Hello,
I am 16 years old. Yes, I know I am young, but 2 years ago I befriended a gaia off an online game. He was nice and sweet and we are still close friends to this very day. Now before I say anything else, I do not spend all my time on internet. I do have a life, I do look for guys in the real world. Well, anyways my friend lives in Egypt. I live in the US. He is 18. Anyways, I think I have fell in love with him. I think about him almost everyday. Yet, I know he does not wish to have a gf, or to have one on the internet nonetheless, unless he really loves the girl. He still doesnt know I had strong feelings for him for several months now. I am trying to get over him, but I cant! I just cant! What should I do? Give up?
Answer hi jordan,
thanks for your email,
its not easy to keep up a long distance relationship. you two certainly have a big difference in distance and in cultures. at this stage i would just remain friends and see how things go in a few years time.
maybe in those years he will feel differently about girls and want a girlfriend and you both will have matured and know better want you want in life.
i know at the moment you have strong feelings for him, but you cant make him have those same feelings. it might be him or his culture that is holding him back but you do need to try to get on with your life and enjoy the friends you have now. you can still enjoy his company online and learn more about each other in the meantime.
if you really want to end this relationship, delete his id or dont go onto the chat site that you are chatting on. that is the only way of not having anything more to do with him.
i would not give up right now, just keep him as a good friend.
