AboutPamela Thomas Expertise Questions on Opera performance, repertoire, vocal technique, acting for opera. I have some 20 years experience in opera in both leading roles and chorus. I have sung with New York City Opera since 1981. I have studied voice in NYC for over 20 years and have also taught technique and coached singers in acting.
My name is Lee and I would like to ask you if you know any good voice teachers in the Vancouver British Columbia area? I graduated with an Honors Bachelor of music Program majoring in voice at Wilfrid Laurier University in Waterloo Ontario. It has been five years now, and after not singing and overcoming vocal nodules, I am really curious as to what I can achieve if I tried harder. I want to give myself a chance.
Thank you so very much.
I love reading your informative and encouraging answers to the questions! Thank you so much for your time!
yours truly,
Lee
Answer Hi Lee,
I don't really know the teachers in Vancouver. But if you go to www.nats.org and click on "find a teacher" - there are some names listed there that you might try. Also you might call the Vancouver Academy of Music and inquire about their teachers. You might also try calling Vancouver Opera and simply asking if they could recommend a local teacher.
Certainly the Opera or Vancouver Orchestra would have an idea of who the good teachers are in the area.
Or perhaps one of the other opera folks here know someone. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful.
