Question
Hi
Can you tell me as a novice where to train in opera as I have been part of a successful choir but I would like to sing on my own and be a professional saprano in the north of England.
many thanks Louise

Answer
Hi Louise,

I think it's wonderful you are interested in learning opera.  I don't know the teachers in the north of England personally since I haven't been there but here are some thoughts about how to go about finding a teacher.

1.  If you have a music school or an opera company near you - you can call them and ask for a recommendation.

2.  Ask your choir director for a recommendation - he/she should know singers they knew in school - or they should be able to make a suggestion for your area.

Perhaps try these websites (you don't say what city you live in - so I'm guessing on the area):

This one looks good - it seems to be a worldwide listing of teachers (United Kingdom is at the bottom) - Just put in your city and see what comes up!

Perhaps you'll get some ideas from these sites.

Best of luck to you!
