Question
Hello, I am a 20 year old female college student and I was having trouble focusing on the board at school and aching eyes so I went to the eye doctor and he said that I have a significant esophoria and I am nearsighted. I never had problems with my eyes before and was always able to see fine at distances. Why would I now be having problems? The doctor gave me bifocals -1.25 for vision in each eye and +.50 for the bifocal in each eye.

Answer
Dear Noelle,

Sometimes this condition exists with us but does not surface until we do excessive specific tasks like focussing long hours on the computers etc, which you probably were not doing earlier, hence this probably did not bother you earlier..

The prescription you have sent us can be interpreted in many ways if not written exactly as by the doctor so please revert back with the prescription as written by the eye clinic with spherical and astigmatism noted for us to understand the same.

Regards,
Dr Anand Shroff
