I had a retina detachment on my right eye 4 years ago and was injected with silicone oil as well. Silicone oil was staying in the eye for 2 years and it had cause my cornea turn grey. I wanted to do a cornea grafting but the doctor mention that it was not advisable. The doctor say that retina was not in position and cornea grafting will not help restore vision. So I was wondering if the cornea scar ca go by itself in the long run ot will be forever grey. What are the chances for me to get my vision back from your experience?
Answer Dear Derrick,
This depends on the kind of scarring it is as located and type. If you have an eye report of the doctor you visit, it will be helpful.
If it has already stayed there for 4 years, it is unlikely to 'go away' on its own, but some may improve with medications, while others need grafting. Now, there are advances in grafting as well,,,so some report (medical status) would help.
