Question QUESTION: i have a question. i am nearsighted and wear glasses. my eyes they feel strained and tired alot of the time. and the only way it feels better is to sleep. also at night when im outside bright lights hurt my eyes. in the day time sometimes when its not even sunny out my eyes hurt and i can barely stand to open them..why is this?
ANSWER: Dear Nichole,
You need to visit an eye specialist for diagnosing the problem. Sometimes light sensitivity is an early sign of eye problems like increased eye pressure.
These may require simple treatments, but best when detected early.
Visit an eye doctor... it will help.

QUESTION: what would be the treatments? and what types of problems could it be? i have to wait til october to see my eye doctor. it is serious?
ANSWER: Dear Nichole,
Nothing serious, could be something simple like sinusitis and not related to eyes, however, it is best to rule out conditions like Glaucoma where the eye pressure can increase and give these symptoms.
You can check the eye pressure with a local optometrist as well.
Hope this helps,

QUESTION: thank you for that response. but i am only 18. my eyes hurt and always felt tired it was a year and a half ago when this started. and then every october i go to the optomitrist and i went and the doc didnt say anything.
but the light sensitivity just started like 6 months ago.
Answer Dear Nichole,
This may be a simple symptom of sinusitis or even the early start of a number.
Even a good physician will be able to guide you for this.
Temporarily please wear good UV protective sun wear outdoors.
Hope this helps,
Regards,
Dr Shroff
