About Michael J. Wojciak, O.D.
Expertise
I am an Optometrist with 21 yrs experience. I currently practice primary eye care in Lombard & Schaumburg, Illinois. I specialize in all types of contact lenses. Please forward appropriate questions pertaining to eye exams, glasses or contact lenses only. I will always attempt to be as "specific" as I can on my answers. This is often difficult when the questions do not provide enough information or visual presentation is needed. ***I will reject any question involving self-prescribing of contact lenses or involving contact lens measurements/comparisons (such as changing base curves, measurement comparisons between brands etc). Contact lenses are a medical device and need to be properly fit by your Doctor. Also in respect for patient privacy, I will not answer third party questions, unless a parent or guardian is asking a question about their child.*** I appreciate your confidence.

Experience
Education/Credentials: B.S. Biology/Pre-Professional Studies, University Of Notre Dame, 1982. B.S.V.S. Visual Science, Illinois College Of Optometry, 1984. Doctor Of Optometry, Illinois College Of Optometry, 1986. Therapeutic Certification, Illinois College Of Optometry, 1996.

Ophthalmology & Optometry - Pressure or pulling in left eye

Expert: Michael J. Wojciak, O.D. - 6/29/2009

Question
It started a 3 weeks ago when I wok up with the left eye very red in the left
corner and watery in the left corner. I've fallen a sleep with contacts on a few
times. Not sure if that's why. The redness went away in three days. I later
noticed where it was red now wrinkled when you push it. Seems worse in the
morning  and goes down a bit in the day. I thought my contacts were
aggravating it, so I went to get new glasses with a new perscription, a huge
jump for 2006. Now I"m feeling a pressure or pulling sensation in the left eye
since my new glasses for about two weeks now, but more prominent when
I'm wearing contacts. I also find my eyes are sticky in the morning. Six
months ago I also got new contact perscription. Each eye had a different
perscription before the examination and ended up with the same perscription
after. Any insight would be helpful as I am concerned.

Answer
You have many issues involved here. Anytime there is any kind of pain or pressure, you need to see your doctor.  Since there is a chance you may have some sort of infection, I would make an appointment to see your eye doctor ASAP.  Most patients leave serious issues untreated and each time they reoccur, they may get worse.
Please call your doctor.
Hope this helps,
Dr. Wojciak
