Question Hi, my son 19 years old is trying to sign up for the marines and officer training program, he needs to retake vision test as he must be 20/400 before correction, he wears contacts and was told he needs to wear glasses for 3 days prior to his testing because of swelling, i guess they will dilate his eyes also, my question is will his eyes test better after swelling goes down or better right after he takes contacts out.
thank you
Carl
Answer Dear Carl,
He will need to take his contact out at least a day (for soft lenses) prior to any vision check for accuracy.
The dilation is not for numbers but to check the inside of his eye (retina).
Hope this helps.

Dr Shroff
