Ophthalmology & Optometry/Chronic red eyes and lasik

I'm a 30 year old, nearsighted woman (-2 in each eye). Back when i was 20, i regularly used contacts. I stopped a couple of years later when the lenses and solution started stinging and it felt like the lenses were digging into my eyes. Ever since that, my eyes are always red. I have some veins that go from the inner corner of my eye to the iris that are always visible, they usually get bigger and more red as the day goes by, specially if I've been working on the computer or am tired. I've been diagnosed with chronic allergic conjunctivitis, I have used a lot of drops, but none have given me real relief. Some (like patanol 2.0) have reduced the redness a little bit, but it comes back as soon as i stop using them.

So my questions are:
Is there any permanent solution to allergic conjunctivitis? Does it sound like it could be something else?

I was told by my ophthalmologist that I'm a good candidate for lasik. Could my red-eye condition get worse after lasik, or affect the results in any way?

Many thanks in advance! :)

Chronic allergies would only be cured by eradicating the source of the allergy, which may be unknown or impossible.

I would carefully investigate dry eye syndrome as a cause of redness as well.
A three month trial of topical restasis may be worthwhile if either or both conditions exist.

LASIK would not make redness due to allergy worse, but it would likely make any dryness worse.
