Question
Hello Dr Axelrod,

The latest eye-check up of our 8 y daughter showed some abnormalities. Would be very thankful reading your comments on the results:
Refraction: (OD) +0,50 + 0,25 177  (OS) 0,75 + 0,25 35
Corneal reflexes: (OD) Symmetric (0) 2,7 (20) Asymmetric (OS)
Pupil size OD 6,0 (OS) 5,6
Pupil distance 55 mm
She has no background eye-diseases, first time some abnormalities observed.

Kind regards, Val

Answer
Hi Val,
the refraction is normal, insignificant.
the corneal reflexes I don't understand, it is not a test for 8 year olds, maybe infants where cooperation or language is a problem.  If it is addressing alignment of the eyes, there are other tests.  Pupil sizes are fine, so I don't now what abnormalities are to worry about.  If it is the corneal reflexes, then better tests of ocular alignment are needed.  Also to now the visual acuity for each eye is important but missing.
Regards,
