Ophthalmology & Optometry/Vitreous floaters

Dear Dr. Shroff

I am 57 years old and for the 1st time I am experiencing floaters in my right eye.
My symptoms: seeing what looks like a long curly hair, a cloudy lense and in the evening light flashing.   The ophthalmologist confirmed I had vitreous floaters and nothing more serious.  I was told they might go away or might not.  My question. the light flashing during the evening in my corner of the right eye drives me crazy.  Will the light flashing eventually go away.  I was told all the above were my symptoms of the floater. Any info on floaters and if their is anything I can do to help live with them..
Thank you

Dear Kay,
sorry for the delay in reply.

Yes, the symptoms seem that of a floater.
And, if your retina has been examined via a dilated eye exam and found to be fine, you need not worry about these symptoms.

Yes, the symptoms are annoying and have more of a nuisance value, but usually settle down in almost all. However, in how much time? one cannot determine.

You may read some information to help you...please read about them on http://www.shroffeye.org/flashes-and-floaters/

Hope this helps,
