Ophthalmology & Optometry/Cross linking

Question
How long has cross linking been done in India/Europe?  How long has this procedure stopped progression of the disease process?   We live in the United States where the procedure is only done through clinical trials.  My 24 year old son had one eye treated 3 years ago and the other eye 9 months ago with no progression of the keratoconus.   I am curious about what the longevity of cross linking is so far.

Answer
Hi Amy,

I have been doing crosslinking for the past 7 years now.
We have even started with Accelerated crosslinking few months ago.

Results of crosslinking are very good, stable.
I have yet to see a case where it has not worked and I needed to repeat the procedure.

The next phase for you should be to consider improving vision, once the cone is stabilized, which you shall know when 2 or 3 topography maps look the same, with no changes.

Do read more about it on http://www.shroffeye.org/services-view/crosslinking-of-cornea-using-accelerated-
