Ophthalmology & Optometry/dirty water in eye

Question
Hi. Thanks for service. I think some dirty water entered my eye . There is no irritation so far but since I am a worry person what symptoms of infection should I watch out for? No redness or pain as of yet ( incident was an hour ago)

Answer
Just rinse or irrigate eyes with normal saline solution or eye wash.  Chances are you wont be contaminated or infected because the eyes resistance and immune response is fairly strong. But If you do become infected, you will observe redness, discharge, pus, swelling , discomfort.  If so seek professional help for antibiotic treatment.  Good luck. Dr Berger
